For many buyers, the biggest choice is now between OLED and IPS-class LCD panels. Neither is automatically better for every user.
OLED wins on black levels and contrast
OLED pixels can turn off individually. That allows true black areas instead of the dark gray produced when an LCD backlight remains active.
The result is excellent contrast, especially in movies, dark interfaces and HDR content. Colors can also look unusually vivid when the panel is tuned well.
IPS can still look excellent

Refresh rate may matter more than panel type
A 120 Hz display feels smoother than a 60 Hz display when scrolling, moving windows and gaming.
Do not assume every OLED panel is automatically high refresh or that every IPS panel is slow. Check the actual specification.
Color accuracy is not the same as saturation
A screen can look colorful without being accurate.
Creative professionals should look for color-space coverage, calibration quality and whether the display supports the workflow they use. Photographers and designers may care more about accurate sRGB, DCI-P3 or Adobe RGB behavior than about the panel technology name.
